Junior Divas Can Change the World…One Charity at a Time!

Today, I would like to introduce MaryMargaret O’Neill to you! This young lady is a JuniorDiva™ who has inspired me and captured my full attention! Let me share with you how…

I often speak to audiences on the importance of engaging our children and youth in conversations regarding the positive impact charitable contributions make in society today. Educating our leaders of tomorrow is not enough. We need to involve our children in charitable causes at an early age, so they will promote such work throughout their lifetime. In teaching and exposing them early in life, they will “feel the good” that helping others promotes from within. We have the responsibility to teach our children that we must not only do well in our lives, but we must most importantly, do good.

Recently, I had the pleasure of being introduced to MaryMargaret who at the age of twelve is leading the way in educating her generation on doing good in this very moment. In fact, not only is she speaking and educating her peers about the importance of helping others, she is leading by example as the founder of Kids Are Heroes®.

At the age of 9, MaryMargaret asked her father to build a website to help animals. Soon, her desire to help animals expanded to helping people, the environment and more, and the concept of Kids Are Heroes was born. Kids Are Heroes is a nonprofit that empowers, encourages and inspires children to become leaders through volunteerism and community involvement. This is accomplished by showcasing and supporting children who are changing the world through their selfless acts of giving. To date, MaryMargaret and Kids Are Heroes have highlighted the wonderful contributions of more than 160 children from around the world.

As a social media leader of today, I observe the impact that online influence has on charitable causes. I am beyond inspired by these social media leaders of tomorrow, who are making a difference today via social networks and websites. These children have taken the power of global word of mouth and turned it into promoting the causes they believe in.

I am passionate about much in life. I am especially passionate about helping our young women to embrace and love who they are now…and to walk in their magnificence. My hope is to inspire many to do so before they enter into life making decisions as adults. My JuniorDiva ™ program focuses on just that. In leading by example, MaryMargaret epitomizes what I think a true JuniorDiva™ is or has the potential to become. This new friend of mine is aware of her ability to make a difference and is embracing her power right now…at the age of twelve!

MaryMargaret is leading by example and I think she is simply fabulous!

Please take a look at her recent video to us. Get to know this JuniorDiva™ and introduce her to all you know. Let’s help her change the world…one charity at a time!

Go! Junior Divas! Go!

XOXO

Hi, Junior Divas!

I’m so excited to share with you my very first blog as the creative director and moderator of Junior Divas. It gives me an opportunity to do what I love – read and write! – while also being involved in a really cool program for girls and young women. I can’t wait to hear from each and every one of you; stay tuned for opportunities to participate in loads of online activities, or even become a Junior Diva Blogger!

But before we get to all the fun stuff, let me introduce myself. I’ll (finally!) be graduating from college in the spring with a degree in English and professional writing. Right now I’m also on the staff of my university newspaper; I write news and feature articles in addition to a monthly style column. And in the spring, I start an internship with a style magazine. I can’t wait to share all the details with you!

Dabney has been a close friend of mine, and a wonderfully positive influence in my life, for years. When she told me about her idea for Junior Divas, I knew immediately that it would be a great way to bring girls together – just like us! – to build friendships and support each other. Of course, I was thrilled when she offered me this position, where I get to work directly with all of the JD’s… after all, Junior Divas is about you!

We all know how exciting/terrifying/challenging/amazing it is to be a girl. It’s complicated, and it’s confusing. But Junior Divas are the girls who can handle it all and help their friends do the same. We’ve embraced the journey of “growing up” and we’re enjoying the path we walk to get there… because being a girl is fun.

Smart~Motivated

Funny~Athletic~Talented~Unique~Kind~Adventurous~Successful

~Beautiful~

Are you already a Junior Diva? Or do you need just a little help getting there? This is the place where you can become exactly the girl you want to be.

Welcome, girls. This is just the beginning. Check back soon to read my blog and meet our first Junior Diva Bloggers. Are you interested? Send me a sample blog that briefly introduces yourself and explains either what you think it means to be a Junior Diva, or talk about a moment in your life where you learned an unforgettable lesson.

I can’t wait to hear your stories!

Till then… au revoir!

Hello Junior Divas!

Filed under: Junior Divas — Dabney Porte @ 12:27 am

I am so excited to be a part of the Diva Coach Dabney’s diva movement and am thrilled that you have stopped in to check the Junior Divas out!

When I think of one word that can describe me it is leader. Leadership is a very important aspect in my life as of right now. I coach a group of girls that look up to me in every way. If they were to later go back and coach, they would take what I taught them and teach their girls how to be successful. I just love teaching girls to become leaders and to be confident in their actions.

Someone once told me to live my life one day at a time…to not look back and grieve over the past for it is gone, and do not be troubled about the future, it has not yet come. Live in the present, and make it so beautiful it will be worth remembering.

As most teenage girls would do, I blew this advice off and decided that I would live my life however I wanted to. I look back within the past couple years, and I can honestly say my teenage years so far haven’t been the best. I’ve gotten into bad groups of people; I’ve done things that I probably will regret later down the road. Now, I realize that maybe, the words spoken to me were right. I shouldn’t grieve over my past, and instead of worrying about how I will be in 20 years, maybe this is the time to make it how I want it to be. The time is now!

What I want for all young girls, is to learn that you must play by your own rules. I want every girl to make sure she knows she has a voice. She may speak up, but always in a positive way. As a Junior Diva~ I will have a goal to teach and inspire girls that they can make their life positive…always!

My goal of being a Junior Diva is to inspire girls my age and younger, to believe in themselves. I believe that I am a very strong girl who stands by her beliefs regardless of the situation I am put in. As a Junior Diva…I will help all of you to be true to yourselves, to inspire you with my stories…and to encourage you on your journey!

Being a Diva means to be strong, compassionate, and happy. By being a spokes~diva for Junior Divas, I will be able to help all girls realize this, I believe I am a great role model for every type of girl in the world. We need more Diva’s!

All of us need to learn how to be strong, how to lead, and how to shine. I think most girls need someone to guide them, and that is why I am here…leading YOU to find your divalicious self! I could potentially save a life. It is a dream of mine to make someone change their life aspect, just by saying a few considerate words. If I could make 5 girls feel beautiful about themselves every day, I believe I could change the world. So as Diva Coach Dabney says, I too, am “Changing the world, one DIVA at a time”. Being a Diva means to be strong, yes, but the quote by Walt Disney that should inspire Junior Divas the most is, “If you can dream it, you can do it” and if everyone does whatever “it” is, they will succeed, no matter what.

Love Always, Maddy
